As we slowly bring to a close our Christmas celebrations and prepare to enter into the Lent and Easter mysteries, we at Novalis are pleased to announce a fantastic line-up of new books and events just for you. And all in perfect time to help you prepare for Lent!
Bestselling authors Michael Higgins and Kevin Burns are featured in a special CBC Ideas program to be aired January 9, 16 and 23. Based on their highly praised book, Genius Born of Anguish, the program will delve deeply into the personality of Henri Nouwen and explore the many facets of his life. To celebrate the airing of their program, Higgins and Burns will give a special presentation on Nouwen at St. Michael’s College on January 21 at 7:00pm. With the support of the Henri Nouwen Society, this program is a compelling look into the world of an inspiring man and should not be missed.
A week later we celebrate renowned professor and Toronto Star columnist Stephen Scharper and his newest book, For Earth’s Sake, at a book launch at Regis College on January 31 from 5:30-7:00pm. Edited and with introduction by Simon Appolloni, Scharper shows us that it is possible, and necessary, for us to do something about the current environmental and climate change crisis we all face.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, Novalis hosts one of Canada’s bishops, Thomas Cardinal Collins, and author of our newly released book Cornerstones of Faith, for an evening reflection on Reconciliation, Eucharist, Stewardship and the Year of Faith on February 4 at 7:30pm. With the gracious and generous support of Saint Patrick Church in Markham, we welcome you to join us for an evening that will both challenge and inspire us to enter into the sacramental life and share the gifts that God has given us with all of God’s people.
As always, we at Novalis are here to support you as you continue your journey of faith.
